Wes Bos has released JSON Alexander, a lightweight browser extension for viewing JSON files with tree, formatted, and raw display modes. The project was created as a trustworthy alternative after another popular JSON formatter extension was found to be injecting geolocation tracking and donation UI into websites. Currently not on the Chrome Web Store, it can be installed manually by cloning the repo and loading it as an unpacked extension in any Chromium-based browser.
