Frank Delporte announces joining the Pi4J open-source team to help develop version 2 of the leading Java I/O library for Raspberry Pi. The new version replaces the deprecated WiringPi with PiGpio and introduces a plugin architecture to support additional boards and hardware components beyond the Raspberry Pi core. The author plans to initially focus on documentation and project organization while other volunteers are also joining the effort.
