JetBrains unveils AI tracing library for Kotlin and Java

JetBrains has released Tracy, an open-source Kotlin library for tracing, monitoring, and evaluating AI-powered features in Kotlin and Java projects. Tracy provides a unified API to capture structured traces, debug failures, measure execution time, and track LLM usage across model calls, tool calls, and custom logic. It implements OpenTelemetry Generative AI Semantic Conventions for compatibility with any OpenTelemetry-compliant backend. Tracy supports Kotlin 2.0.0+ and Java 17+, integrates with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini SDKs, and can export traces to Langfuse and Weave.
