JetBrains has launched Air, an agentic development environment, into public preview. Air aims to solve agent fragmentation by providing a unified workspace where multiple AI agents (Codex, Claude Agent, Gemini, Junie) can run within a single interface. Developers can define tasks with precise code context by referencing specific lines, commits, classes, or methods. Air supports the open Agent Client Protocol (ACP) standard for IDE interoperability, allows agents to run locally or in Docker containers and Git worktrees for sandboxing, and provides a single-task view with notifications when other agent sessions need attention.
