JetBrains has announced JetBrains Central, a governance and execution platform for AI coding agent workflows. The company argues enterprises are heading toward an AI ROI crisis similar to the early cloud era — widespread adoption without visibility into costs or outcomes. JetBrains Central addresses this with a semantic context layer, a collaborative workspace (Air Team) for delegating and tracking multi-agent tasks, and integrations with Slack, Atlassian, and Linear. Unlike most AI platform vendors building closed ecosystems, JetBrains is positioning Central as an open platform where organizations can bring their own LLM API keys and connect external agents like Claude or Codex via the Agent Communication Protocol. Pricing combines a fixed per-seat governance subscription with pay-as-you-go agentic execution. An Early Access Program is planned for Q2 2026.
