A historical overview of JavaFX 3D capabilities, from the JavaOne 2013 Duke chess demo to NASA's Deep Space Trajectory Explorer, followed by hands-on experiments running JavaFX 3D applications on a Linux PC and Raspberry Pi. Covers building and running sample projects (MoleculeSampleApp, 3DViewer, Duke chess pieces) using OpenJDK 11 and JavaFX 16 EA from Gluon. Also discusses embedded deployment options (window manager vs. framebuffer/DRM) and the FXyz3D library for custom 3D shapes.
