A substitute Jakarta EE community event was organized in Johannesburg after I Code Java was cancelled. The meetup attracted 208 registered attendees and featured two presentations: one on the past, present, and future of Enterprise Java, and another on AI with Quarkus. Organizers are considering expanding it into a half-day or full-day conference branded as JakartaOne South Africa or JakartaOne Johannesburg.
