A significant judgment from the Google vs. Epic Games lawsuit has led to major changes in the Android ecosystem. Google is now required to allow third-party app stores to be installed from within Google Play and to provide them with access to the complete catalog of apps. Additionally, developers are no longer forced to use Google Play's billing system, meaning Google can no longer charge a 30% commission on in-app purchases. Developers can also link to alternative payment methods and app stores from within their Google Play listings. This decision could potentially ease the hurdles for Android developers and reduce app costs for consumers, though Google plans to appeal the ruling.
