Iranian hacktivist group Handala, believed to be a front for Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), has claimed responsibility for a global network outage at US medical device maker Stryker. The group alleges it wiped over 200,000 systems and stole 50 TB of data, framing the attack as retaliation for US-Israel airstrikes. Stryker confirmed a cyberattack disrupting its Microsoft environment but found no evidence of ransomware. The group also claimed to have breached payment device maker Verifone, which denied any intrusion. Security researchers describe this as a significant escalation, potentially the first destructive cyberattack by an Iranian-backed actor targeting a major US enterprise, raising serious concerns for critical healthcare infrastructure.
