Databricks has launched a public preview of an Excel Add-in that lets business users import and analyze lakehouse data directly in Excel without writing SQL or configuring ODBC drivers. Built on Databricks SQL and Unity Catalog, the add-in reduces setup from dozens of manual steps to a few clicks, supports metric views for consistent business semantics, and maintains governance while enabling self-service analytics. It can be installed via the Microsoft Office Marketplace or deployed centrally through Microsoft 365 admin center.
