Meta announces Candle, a new 8,000-kilometer subsea cable system that will be the largest capacity cable in Asia-Pacific with 570 Tbps, connecting Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore by 2028. The company also provides updates on three other subsea cable projects: Bifrost (now connecting Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, and US), Echo (delivering 260 Tbps between Guam and California), and Apricot (available between Japan, Taiwan, and Guam). These infrastructure investments aim to enhance connectivity for over 580 million people in the region and support AI and emerging technologies.
