Introducing MongoDB Agent Skills and Plugins for Coding Agents

MongoDB is launching official Agent Skills and plugins for AI coding tools including Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and VS Code. Agent Skills are structured instructions and best practices that guide coding agents to avoid common MongoDB pitfalls like over-normalizing schemas, underusing compound indexes, and misusing search indexes. The skills are packaged alongside the MongoDB MCP Server into ready-to-use plugins, enabling teams to embed MongoDB expertise directly into their agentic workflows. Installation is straightforward via a single CLI command or plugin install, and developers can also build custom skills to codify internal conventions.
