Cloudflare launched Markdown for Agents, a feature that automatically converts HTML pages to markdown when AI agents request content using HTTP content negotiation headers. The conversion reduces token usage by up to 80% (from 16,180 to 3,150 tokens in their example), making content more efficient for AI processing. AI agents can request markdown by adding `Accept: text/markdown` to their HTTP headers, and Cloudflare's network performs real-time conversion at the edge. The feature is available in beta for Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans, and includes Content Signals headers to specify usage permissions for AI training and search.
