Google Cloud is launching Fraud Defense, the next evolution of reCAPTCHA, at Google Cloud Next '26. It is a trust platform designed to handle the security challenges of the agentic web, where autonomous AI agents perform complex transactions. Key new capabilities include an agentic activity measurement dashboard, a policy engine for granular control over agent and human traffic, and a QR code-based AI-resistant challenge to prove human presence. Existing reCAPTCHA customers are automatically migrated with no action required. The platform claims to protect 50% of Fortune 100 companies and over 14 million domains, and has demonstrated a 51% average reduction in account takeover.
