Databricks has launched Agent Mode for Genie, an agentic AI feature that iteratively plans, explores, and reasons over enterprise data to answer complex business questions. Unlike standard single-query responses, Agent Mode works like a data analyst: forming hypotheses, running multiple SQL queries, reflecting on results, and iterating toward well-supported conclusions. It integrates with Unity Catalog metadata and Genie's knowledge store for accurate, context-aware analysis. Results are presented as reports with visualizations, SQL references, and actionable recommendations, shareable as PDFs. The feature is available now in Genie spaces and AI/BI Dashboards, with API support and unstructured document analysis coming soon.
