Elastic is launching the Serverless Plus add-on for Elastic Cloud Serverless, with AWS PrivateLink as its first major feature now in general availability. This enables private, isolated network connectivity between AWS VPCs and Elastic Cloud Serverless projects without traffic traversing the public internet. Key benefits include Zero Trust Architecture support, compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS, reduced data transfer costs by avoiding NAT Gateway fees, and consistent low-latency performance. Setup involves creating a VPC Endpoint in AWS, defining a private connection policy in the Elastic Cloud console, and associating it with a project. The add-on also includes IP filtering now, with cross-project search, multicloud support (Azure, GCP), and BYOK encryption planned. During an introductory period, features are free for all Serverless customers; post-promotion, Elasticsearch Serverless will see a 10% consumption-based upcharge.
