Custom Regions allow enterprise customers to define their own precise geographical boundaries for TLS termination and Layer 7 traffic processing, enabling tailored data sovereignty compliance. The architecture ensures global DDoS protection at ingress while restricting data decryption and inspection to customer-defined regions. Routing uses performance-ranked, health-aware selection across Cloudflare's private backbone. Custom Regions are currently available via account team engagement rather than self-serve.
