Google has launched BigQuery Graph in preview, a graph analytics solution built natively into BigQuery. It supports the ISO GQL standard, enabling users to model nodes and edges on top of existing relational tables without data duplication. Key features include multi-hop graph traversals, vector and full-text search integration, graph visualization via BigQuery Studio and third-party tools (Graphistry, Linkurious, etc.), and federated queries combining Spanner Graph with BigQuery. Use cases span fraud detection, supply chain analysis, drug discovery, customer 360, and social networks. Real-world customers like Curve report ~£9.1M in fraud savings. Getting started involves three steps: creating a property graph schema with DDL, querying with SQL/GQL, and visualizing results.
