Red Hat is upgrading the RPM-packaged Apache Tomcat in RHEL 10 from version 9.0 to 10.1. The key change is the switch from the Java EE (javax.*) namespace to Jakarta EE (jakarta.*). A new tomcat-jakartaee-migration tool package is included to ease the transition, supporting both CLI-based migration and deploy-time conversion via a legacy app directory. For organizations needing more time, a temporary tomcat9 package provides Tomcat 9.0 support through November 2026 and until the RHEL 10.3 release. After that, users must complete migration to Tomcat 10.1 using dnf swap and update their application namespaces accordingly.
