Intel is preparing wireless mode support for QAT Gen6 hardware in the upcoming Linux 7.1 kernel. The new wireless mode activates when a specific fuse bit (WCP_WAT) is clear, causing all accelerator engines to load wireless firmware. QAT Gen6 adds support for ZUC-256, 5G, and extended algorithm chaining on top of the existing Gen5 wireless algorithms. Service configuration is restricted to symmetric-only ('sym') for wireless cipher mode devices. The patch is currently queued in the cryptodev Git branch ahead of the Linux 7.1 merge window opening in April.
