Intel engineer Jani Nikula submitted a drm-intel-next pull request targeting the Linux 7.1 merge window. Key additions include C10/C20/LT PHY PLL divider verification, Panel Self Refresh updates for Lunar Lake and newer hardware, Display Stream Compression improvements, and groundwork for UHBR (Ultra-High Bit Rate) DisplayPort tunneling. UHBR DP 2.0/2.1 supports up to 80 Gbps bandwidth enabling 8K or 4K@240Hz displays. The work, led by Intel engineer Imre Deak, improves detection of DisplayPort tunnels on Thunderbolt links and enables bandwidth allocation mode to maximize resolution when multiple displays share USB4/Thunderbolt bandwidth.
