ULI (USBless Linux Installer) is an alpha-stage open-source tool that lets you install Linux directly from Windows without needing a USB flash drive or any external media. The tool downloads a Linux ISO, shrinks the Windows partition, sets up a temporary UEFI boot entry, and reboots into the Linux installer automatically. A demo shows installing CachyOS on a Windows 11 machine, wiping Windows entirely, with LUKS encryption enabled. Known bugs include incorrect distro name display in the UI. The author suggests future improvements like passing environment variables (username, password, encryption keys) through a chrooted environment so the system boots directly into a fully configured Linux install rather than the setup wizard.
