Instagram is restricting the reach of content aggregator accounts that repost others' work without meaningful transformation. Accounts that primarily re-upload photos and carousels they didn't create will no longer be eligible for recommendations across the app, including feeds and the Discover tab. The change extends existing protections already in place for Reels. Instagram defines original content as work someone wholly created, reflects their unique perspective, or materially edited with added value. Low-effort edits like watermarks or speed changes don't qualify. The goal is to reward genuine creators and reduce repetitive content circulation.
