The incident highlights vulnerabilities in IoT/CCTV devices, which commonly run outdated Linux firmware and are susceptible to botnet exploitation like Mirai. India's Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a security audit of all CCTV cameras, and the government reminded citizens that only 507 certified cameras are approved for sale, with government entities required to use them.
