Incus 7.0 LTS, the container and virtual-machine management system, has been released with support through June 2031. Key changes include a new low-level backup API, built-in basic S3 operations replacing the unmaintained MinIO project, and removal of cgroups v1 and xtables (iptables/ip6tables/ebtables) support. The first two years will include bug, security, and minor usability fixes via point releases, followed by security-only maintenance for the remaining three years. A total of 204 contributors participated between the 6.0 and 7.0 LTS releases.
