Jakarta Persistence 4.0 Milestone 2 has been released with several new features. Key additions include improvements to criteria queries with specialized expression types (ComparableExpression, TextExpression, etc.) that reduce verbosity, enhanced EntityGraph API with a new FetchOption interface and built-in BatchSize support, a new @EntityListener annotation that decouples listeners from entity classes, finer flush control via FlushModeType.EXPLICIT and QueryFlushMode, a StatementOrTypedQuery type for better type safety, and a @Discoverable meta-annotation enabling any class to host annotations like @NamedQuery in Jakarta EE containers.
