Hibernate Search 8.2.0.CR1 has been released as the first candidate release of the next minor version. Key updates include compatibility with Hibernate ORM 7.2, Elasticsearch 9.2, and OpenSearch 3.2/3.3, plus Lucene upgrades to 9.12.3 and 10.3.2. The headline feature is pluggable Elasticsearch backend REST clients, offering four options: the legacy Apache HTTP Client 4-based client, a newer Apache HTTP Client 5-based client, an OpenSearch-specific REST client, and a simple JDK HttpClient-based client for basic use cases. Users are advised to explicitly declare their preferred client dependency, as the implicit dependency on the default rest4 client will be removed in a future version.
