Hibernate Search 8.0.0.Beta1 has been released, marking the first beta of the next major version. Key highlights include the first implementation of type-safe field references via a static metamodel (similar to JPA's static metamodel but for search indexes), compatibility with Elasticsearch 9.0/8.18 and OpenSearch 3.0, Lucene 10.2.1 support, and Hibernate ORM 7.0 targeting Jakarta Persistence 3.2.0. The static metamodel is generated via an annotation processor and enables type-safe search query construction through the Search DSL. Additional improvements include support for vector embeddings up to 16,000 dimensions with Lucene backends and various dependency upgrades.
