Meta has signed a deal to use millions of AWS Graviton ARM-based CPUs for AI agentic workloads, marking a shift from GPU-centric AI infrastructure toward CPUs for inference and agent coordination tasks. The deal is a win for Amazon as it competes with Nvidia's Vera CPU and rivals like Google Cloud. It comes shortly after Anthropic locked up much of Amazon's Trainium GPU capacity in a $100B cloud spending pledge, leaving Graviton CPUs as the available option for Meta. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has signaled intent to win AI deals on price-performance grounds against Nvidia and Intel.
