Microsoft is restructuring the Windows Insider Program to address two major pain points: confusing channel structure and features being announced but not appearing on all devices. The program is consolidating into two primary channels — Experimental (replacing Dev and Canary) and Beta — with Beta ending gradual feature rollouts so all Beta users get announced features immediately. Experimental channel users gain a new Feature flags page to manually enable or disable specific features. Channel switching and leaving the program will be simplified via in-place upgrades, eliminating the need for clean installs in most cases. Existing Insiders will be automatically migrated to the new channels.
