Microsoft Fabric introduced the Direct Lake storage mode for Power BI which allows users to create lightning-fast reports with data driven insights by modeling data in Direct Lake semantic models. Tooling improvements have been made to enhance the experience of creating custom Direct Lake semantic models, including the ability to select the target workspace, choose desired tables, and manually define relationships, measures, and other properties. Views are not shown by default in the list of source objects and schema changes in custom Direct Lake models require user intervention for updates. The workspace lineage view provides a great overview of all the artifacts that use the Lakehouse or Warehouse.
