JFrog's permanent shutdown of JCenter (redirecting to Maven Central) impacts the Gradle Plugin Portal, which will switch from proxying JCenter to proxying Maven Central starting July 15, 2024. Analysis of 7,400+ plugins found 351 plugins whose latest versions will fail to resolve due to transitive dependencies only available on JCenter, plus 104 more transitively affected plugins. Older plugins (2015–2021) are disproportionately affected. Gradle is notifying affected plugin authors and updating plugin descriptions. Dependency traffic analysis showed only 25% of 4.8 million artifact requests match Maven Central GAVs. Lists of affected plugins and dependencies are provided for build impact assessment.
