Thanks for posting! As much as I believe this is happening, I don’t think this is a new phenomenom. “Script Kiddies” were jr. devs that copied code from stackoverflow without understanding why the solution actually worked. Now it’s just copy pasting from a different source

Thank goodness I learnt to code a few years before this mania. I give all my classmates the same advice DO NOT USE LLMs WHILE LEARNING ANYTHING, EVER.

LLMs are great for learning to code, if they’re approached the right way. I’ve found it incredibly helpful to talk through concepts and create my own self-driven lesson plans. But I never have LLMs write anything more elaborate than boilerplate.

I suspect this is an unwarranted, long term concern. Why?
A proper interview in which there is no access AI is going to reveal the posers quickly. What hobbyists do in their free time (because they aren’t going to keep regular employment if there’s any competent manager in charge) isn’t a real concern.

I am studying Systems Engineering and I am surrounded by many of these people who, instead of taking advantage of these tools as your personal teacher, prefer the direct solution and not learn anything in the process.
