Complacency. I live in it as much as I try not to. I feel like this is especially true of my coding habits with my IDE. I feel like I know a decent number of the shortcuts and functionality but I think that’s more driven by comfort rather than the facts.
Do you guys know of any plugins/extensions that help you uncover patterns in what features of an IDE you are actually using vs what are available? I’m thinkin like graphs of usage where it tells me the features I use most, and the ones I use least? Would you use something like that?
I’m considering building something but if it’s already out there, would love to just use that instead

That sounds like a cool project! You could count whenever a command is called? There might be an API call of some kind that you could use? Maybe you could track how often a word appears in the debug output?
The vscode extension API can be a bit tricky to wrangle however

Other than that, read patch notes, they usually introduce new patterns or iterate on old ones which you can explore.
