Mellea provides standard inference patterns, structured outputs, and validation tools that help developers decompose complex prompts into manageable steps with proper error checking. The library emerged from observing how developers overload prompts with logic better handled by traditional software, leading to unpredictable failures. Early adoption within IBM shows significant performance improvements when teams break down monolithic prompts into discrete, validated steps.
