This’ll be a long post (I know, attention spans are short these days), so here’s the TL;DR: I built my own web framework. Let’s talk about it.
For a while now, I’ve been hooked on the “build your own X”(<a href="http://CodeCrafters.io" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">CodeCrafters.io</a> (YC S22)) philosophy. What started as a side project (coding a web server from scratch in Go) turned into Sofu—a tiny, no-frills web framework. Why “Sofu”? It means “old grandpa” in Japanese. Think: wise, unhurried, and definitely not here to compete with the giants. 🧓
The Realization 💡
While building this, it hit me: frameworks are just abstractions over complex code. Sofu isn’t about speed, hype, or reinventing the wheel. It’s about understanding what goes into creating tools we use daily.
