A former competitive Counter-Strike player shares a personal experiment testing Wi-Fi 6E for competitive gaming. Using in-game network telemetry to measure jitter, the author found that under ideal conditions (line-of-sight to router, minimal network congestion), Wi-Fi performance was nearly indistinguishable from a wired Ethernet connection. While wired remains the preferred choice, the author concludes that modern Wi-Fi is a viable option for competitive gaming when conditions are favorable.
