Screenbox is a free, open-source media player for Windows 11 built on LibVLCSharp (the same technology powering VLC). Unlike VLC's dated UI, Screenbox embraces Windows 11's Mica design language with translucent surfaces and non-intrusive floating playback controls. It also adds library management features for both video and music, including media server support. Meanwhile, VLC 4.0 is still in development with a revamped UI but remains unstable in nightly builds.
