Running Google's Gemma 4 E2B and E4B models locally on a phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max) with no internet connection is surprisingly capable for everyday tasks. These small models (2.5–3.6GB) run via the Google AI Edge Gallery app or Locally AI, and handle text cleanup, email drafting, concept explanation, image recognition, and offline voice transcription well. While they won't replace cloud models like ChatGPT or Claude for complex tasks, they cover the majority of lightweight daily AI use cases entirely on-device and for free.
