Claude Code now has built-in Git worktree support via the `claude --worktree` flag, allowing multiple AI agents to work in parallel on isolated branches without interfering with each other. The author walks through how Git worktrees work fundamentally, then demonstrates the Claude-specific implementation. A key gotcha is discovered: when Claude creates a worktree from main, pushes default to main unless you explicitly specify the worktree branch name. Despite this paper cut, the author is enthusiastic about the feature for enabling free parallelization — each agent gets its own worktree lifecycle, can commit independently, and push PRs back to main. Sub-agents also support worktrees, though it must be explicitly opted into.
