I’m So Old: Web Edition

I guess I am also old then :D ahh… I still remember the marvel of the HTML marquee

I’m so old that my first browser was Mosaic running on a Sun (or HP UX) workstation with a grayscale CRT monitor at university. And the first HTML pages I saw were simple text paragraphs with one or two images in block mode (i.e. below or above the text, not on the side), probably hosted at CERN or other university servers. I was reading my e-mail (not that we had many people to send to or receive e-mail from) on a Unix terminal running on one of the above workstations. I learned to use vi and write code in Fortran for our linear algebra class. I could go on, but you get the idea.

I remember seeing Dreamweaver for the first time (after years in Notepad) and having my mind blown at how easy it was; until I saw the underlying code and decided that handcrafted code was still the best. Nested <code>&lt;table&gt;&lt;/table&gt;</code> ftw!

Somehow those were the nice days!
notepad++ was my best buddy (Dreamweaver was for not for pro devs)
I would just add Flash player to the list, that was the highest tech back in the days :D
