<a href="http://Daily.dev" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Daily.dev</a> used to be something I genuinely enjoyed. The streak kept me motivated and coming back. But losing a streak because of a holiday — or worse, because of an error — is unbelievably demotivating. It completely kills the momentum you worked to build.
I understand that you need to make money. That’s fair. But changing the “payment” model from reputation to cores — without giving existing users any real value or transition — is a bad move. A really bad one. It feels like loyalty and contribution suddenly meant nothing.
I loved the concept. Truly.
But I’ve grown to dislike the direction and the execution.
So I’m stepping away.

I thought the “concept” was in having relevant tech news interspersed with horrible AI takes enthusiastically commented on by amateurs. I am shocked anybody even notices, much less cares, about the gamification.

It’s very unfortunate to hear about your experience and to know you’re leaving.
Regarding the reasoning for changing reputation to cores, we believe reputation shouldn’t be a coin exchanged for perks. It’s exactly the reason we developed Cores. Reputation, as the name suggests, should reflect your status within the community. We’re now considering ways to reward users with Cores for loyalty as well.
