Anthropic announced a new policy starting June 15th that splits Claude subscription usage into 'interactive' and 'programmatic' buckets. Paid Claude plans get a dedicated monthly credit equal to their plan cost ($20/$100/$200) for programmatic use via the Agent SDK and Claude-P, but this credit is capped and does not roll over. Previously, tools like T3 Code, Zed, and OpenCode could use Claude Code subscriptions (worth an estimated $5,000–$7,500/month in inference) via the Agent SDK. Under the new policy, those same use cases are limited to just $200/month — a 25–40x reduction. The author, who built T3 Code as an open-source Claude UI wrapper using the Agent SDK (the only officially supported path), argues this is a betrayal after months of promises and explicit encouragement to build on the SDK. The change effectively bans open-source Claude wrappers from subscription benefits, forcing them to pay full API rates.
