AI tools change every week. New models, new workflows, new hype. I decided to stop chasing and focus on building instead. Here's why being behind is not a bad thing.

The rapid pace of AI tool releases creates pressure to constantly update workflows, but chasing every new model or tool is counterproductive. Finding a workflow that works and sticking with it allows developers to focus on building rather than perpetually optimizing. Being 80% optimal with a stable workflow is better than constantly pursuing 100% perfection, as the truly valuable tools will prove themselves over time while trends fade.

I'm Behind and I Don't Care

Reminds me of the second brain advocates a few years back. They spent so much time figuring out the right Obsidian setup and dumping their life into it, they forgot to actually work on something.
Now that I think of it, before that, it was the SCRUM evangelists, so deep into talking about work in their ceremonies, they forgot to do the work they talked about.
Seems like a pervasive issue😁

The best advice I ever got was: “Make that thing your slave. Be the master of your own domain.” In today’s world, companies, marketing, greed, and influencers push a “be a slave to…” mindset. AI is just a tool — a really good tool — but still a means to an end, not a master to follow.

So don’t become a simp for AI. Bend it to your world and your workflow. Use it. Abuse it. And if they want you to pay for it, dump it for a free alternative.

Come on, people — you’re supposed to be the masters of development, design, and coding. Start acting like it. AI can be a friend, an obstacle, or a foe, what AI becomes is totally up to you and your mindset.
