Ubuntu Touch was tested as a daily driver phone in 2026, running on actual hardware with calls, messages, and Android app support via Waydroid. Core phone functions work reliably including calls, camera, and YouTube. The system runs a full Linux environment with terminal access, Docker support, and desktop Linux apps through Libertine containers, though desktop app compatibility remains limited. Battery life matches Android with stable performance, but navigation and UI gestures feel unnatural compared to Android/iOS. Installation requires bootloader unlocking via UBports installer and only supports limited devices. While technically viable as a daily driver, it feels more like a Linux computer pretending to be a phone rather than a seamless mobile experience.
