Ahahah, I feel absolutely the same way. Every time something like that pops up, I either get the f out or edit the dom to remove the element so i can continue reading, it doesn’t work everywhere tho… I do that when i’m really pissed.
I mean there are OTHER ways of asking to subscribe to a newsletter or follow or whatever they may want, you are not OBLIGED to put annoying stuff that just hurt the people that want to read your article, you could simply make it so that it is a PART of the content.
We’ve all seen banner ads in the middle of some content, why not put your subscription there ? With a message saying something like “If you like what you’re reading you can subscribe to keep up with our latest articles”. That would be a better way to promote it, if the articles are of good quality, then i might just end up really subscribing for all i know.
But one thing is certain, is that you’ll never get me to subscribe if I can’t even read ONE article.
