I ditched Plex's official app for an open-source alternative that actually works

Plezy is an open-source, cross-platform Plex client that addresses many of the official app's shortcomings. It offers a modern, polished interface with light/dark/OLED modes, smooth transitions, and full ASS/SSA subtitle support. Unlike the official Plex app, Plezy presents all libraries in a single unified list, supports reliable offline playback on both mobile and desktop, and focuses purely on media consumption without distractions. Pre-built binaries are available for all major platforms, requiring no Docker setup. The author switched to it as their default laptop client after finding it more consistent and streamlined than Plex's own app.
