I DDoS'd myself (don't do this)

A demonstration of DDoS attacks using ping floods shows how overwhelming a server requires multiple attack sources. Starting with a single machine using hping3 proves ineffective against a server with adequate bandwidth. Adding multiple attacking machines creates a distributed denial of service that significantly increases response times from sub-millisecond to 19ms on a local LAN. The ICMP flood attack exploits the ping protocol but can be easily mitigated by disabling ICMP on the target server.
