A benchmark comparison of JSON and binary serializers in .NET 10 shows significant performance improvements across the board. System.Text.Json improved 24-34% for serialization and deserialization. ServiceStack and Newtonsoft.Json saw 19-36% gains. Binary serializers like MemoryPack, MessagePack, and Protobuf-net improved 10-27%. MemoryPack leads binary serialization at 4.4ms for large datasets, 3-7x faster than the fastest JSON options. Recommendations: use System.Text.Json as the default for most workloads; switch to MemoryPack for maximum performance when you control both ends; use MessagePack for cross-platform binary interop. The deprecated Jil library should be migrated away from as it breaks on .NET 7+.
