IceCube Neutrino Observatory in Antarctica has observed seven potential tau neutrinos, which are notoriously difficult to detect. The researchers used convolutional neural networks to distinguish between different neutrino flavors and found that all three flavors behaved as expected at high energies and long distances. This discovery provides confirmation of previous astrophysical neutrino observations and opens up possibilities for identifying astrophysical sources.
